Spray Foam Calculator

Enter wall dimensions, spray depth and foam to estimate the board feet and drum sets a job needs.

How the numbers work

A set is one 55-gallon drum each of A-side and B-side, about 900 to 1,000 lbs. A board foot is one square foot at one inch deep. Published yields are theoretical; real jobs commonly run 20 to 40 percent below them, which is what the waste factor covers.

1 Area to spray
Add up every wall you plan to spray.
A door is about 20 sq ft; a 3x4 ft window is 12.
2 Spray depth
Open-cell usually fills the cavity. Closed-cell is usually sprayed 2 to 3 in, not full depth.
3 Foam and yield
Your data sheet or job history beats any preset.
15% is a sensible floor; cold substrates and trim-heavy jobs run higher.
